April 30, 1988
I am writing to inform you that I am resigning as Co-Chair of the Lesbian/Gay Democrats, effective immediately. I am taking this action for three reasons:
1) As leader of the Denton County Jackson for President delegation, I shall be busy at the Houston Convention with our local people and with the Jackson campaign in general, since I am the County Coordinator for the Jackson Campaign and on the SD22 Jackson committee. Many of our delegates have not attended conventions before and will need someone around to help them be as effective as possible for our candidate.
2) I remained on the Board as long as it seemed that I could be useful, arranging for speakers for the State Conference last fall and attempting to provide liaison with certain party officials. However, since endorsements by LGDT in the primaries were impossible since three Board members did not return my repeated phone calls, it seems that I have failed to impart my vision for LGDT to the Board. Perhaps this has something to do with why the committee write [sic] resolutions never met, too, though I was not on that committee. You will now have a chance to choose another leader for the Convention
3) The two crucial activities for the Convention that must be arranged early are under control. Glen Maxey reserved a time for the preliminary meeting (1:30 on Friday). Annise Parker is working with a local group to handle the hospitality room. You will need to contact them for details about just what the arrangements are.
Very truly yours,
Edra Bogle
