Imatra
Oct. 24th, 1987
Dear Albert,
Thank you so much for your most welcome letter on Sept. 29th. Pentti and I were so happy to hear from you. But we were sorry to read about the trouble you have had
we spent together.
with your toes. We do hope they are all right by now. Yes, Kay wrote and told us all that happened to dear Frances. We can well understand that Frances’s death was a bad dream for you. I do miss her letters. She was such a wonderful and faithful friend. It was so good to meet her and you here at Imatra. We often remember those days we spent together.
Tapio spent 3 weeks in Mozambique, Africa last month. He and another Finn inspected some telecommunications built by Sweden there. Mozambique is a poor and very backward country and also very restless. So we were happy when Tapio returned home safely. After this trip to Africa he has been to Norway and Sweden. Did I tell you that he and his family will spend their winter holiday in Israel in January?
Kallin and his family were here last month. Kallin made our summer cottage ready to face the winter. Our autumn has been very rainy. Since the summer was cold and rainy, too, you can guess how desperate our farmers are. So their crops are more or less ruined. On top of everything there have been very bad floods.
Pentti has not been
very well lately. He gets out of breath so very easily and he seems to have no strength left. I am very much worried about his health indeed.
Birches, maples, etc have dropped their colorful leaves. It will be interesting to see when we have the first fall of snow. Today is rather cold, it is only one degree above zero.
Well, we both hope this will find you well. Best wishes to you and Kay from both of us. Please remember to take good care of yourself.
With much love,
Aune and Pentti
P.S. The boys and their families send their warmest greetings to you.
