Letter from Key's aunt, Madge Mulkey, to H.E. McCulloch, the mayor of San Angelo, regarding the letter to wrote to President Eisenhower about his appearances in TX. She believs that her letter is the reason that Eisenhower has chosen to make a stop in San Angelo and she is asking if her Keys and her husband may be allowed to meet Eisenhower.

Mayor H. E. McCulloch,
San Angelo,
Texas.
Dear Mr. Mayor;
Before the November election I had a good deal of correspondence with some of the members of my family in my native Texas trying to persuade them to vote for the re-election of President Eisenhower.
When I read that he was planning a campaign trip to Texas I wrote him a letter and addressed it:
PERSONAL - PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING TO TEXAS
I enclose a copy of that letter.
When my neice, Mrs. Albert Keys of Wall, Texas, wrote me that letter she had no idea that an excerpt from it would be sent to Mr. Eisenhower. Nor did I at the time it was received but so anxious was I to have Mr. Eisenhower fully understand the attitude of opposition of at least some of the farmers I felt justified, without permission, to quote part of her letter that would help him to understand.
I believe that that letter of October 27th impressed him and helped to influence him to include the San Angelo area in his tour of the drought-stricken areas.
In the last letter from my neice she hoped they “would be able to see Mr. Eisenhower - that it would be too much to expect to meet him.”
Considering the probable influence of her letter on his plan to visit San Angelo I feel that it would not be asking too much for her and her husband to have the privilege of meeting Mr. Eisenhower and for this reason I make this request of you. Being the man he is I believe he will also feel it a privilege to meet an intelligent, courageous couple who in spite of illnesses are meeting a difficult situation.
Mrs. Keys is teaching in the school at Wall and Mr. Keys is now employed in a Furniture Store warehouse in San Abgelo. I have destroyed the letter and do not have the name of the Store but he is a Rotarian.
