Dear John:
Upon my return to the base around 1:00 A.M. found your letter awaiting. Was so glad to hear from you. Undoubtedly by this time you have my letter written prior to my departure for Montreal.
Was happy to receive the snapshot. Shall treasure it always.
Am truly sorry we could not have had a visit before your departure. Perhaps after the war we will meet somewhere. Hope so.
Delivered a C-64 yesterday from Montreal to Newark. It was very gusty clost to the ground and rough in the air so you can see I had a rough ride. Hardest work I have done in ages. Think this is one of the hardest planes to handle in rough air.
Was thinking of you while in Montreal. Wish you could have been there. I waited three days for favorable weather.
I had some pictures taken. Will send you one as soon as I know where it will reach you. They should be ready sometimes next week.
The weather was miserable here today. Fog and rain prevailed until around six this evening - now it is getting colder. Am on the alert and will probably go out tomorrow. Was at the base only two days last month so you can see that I have been kept busy.
Had I known you were leaving so soon would have taken a few days of my leave and visited you. Have ten days coming. Will probably take it the latter part of this month.
Claire Callaghan has had a few trips as co-pilot on the B-25. Someone saw her in Chicago.
Received a letter from the people I stayed with while in Houston. They asked about you. Their daughter is home now.
Hope this letter reaches you before you leave.
Will be looking forward to hearing from you again.
