Dear Mr. Johnson:

Thank you for sending me copy of your speech delivered Nov. 29th at the Medico Award Dinner honoring Adlai Stevenson. I have read the entire speech twice and I see absolutely no relevance between the occasion and your speech.

You had a wonderful opportunity, it seems to me. At such an affair an olive branch with a compliment to the medical advances of Russian doctors and an appeal to them to help relieve the suffering of the world might have helped Stevenson in his negotiations with these difficult people. Actually, your review of history AS YOU SEE IT will make his way even more impossible than it now is.

You say you "saw no reason to protect the Communists from the truth."

Were you there to antagonize the Russians - or were you there to pay tribute to Adlai Stevenson?

A statesman could see my point - but maybe you are not a statesman!
