Inspiration statement:
A large source of inspiration behind my story was watching the silly interactions between my roommate’s two cats. I enjoyed watching how different their personalities are and how humorously they navigate through the tiny home I share with my roommates. -
Learning statement:
Narrative Illustration with Professor Sheli helped refine my technical drawing skills and understand the fundamentals of visual storytelling. After taking this course, I learned that laying the groundwork for a compelling story requires both passion and extensive knowledge of the subject being explored in the visual narrative. - Creator

Narrative Pitch
Part 1: Dink is the only cat to two college students. Dink loves to play, but
his owners are too busy to play with him.
Part 2: One day, a new cat, Frankie, shows up and ruins everything! She’s
super annoying and destroys all of Dink’s favorite toys!
Part 3: Can Dink survive the chaos?
Plot Outline
1. Exposition: Dink is a young tabby cat who lives in an orange house in Forest Grove with his
two loving owners. Dink has been the only cat in his home for two years. As a young cat, Dink
has a lot of stored energy and tries to play with his owners any chance that he gets. However,
with his owners being busy college students, they nd themselves unable to spend time with
Dink. Dink grows lonely and frustrated with his owners. He doesn’t understand why they can’t
play with him like before. Dink begins to destroy furniture and other household items as a way
to get his owner’s attention and let out his anger. Dink’s owners are upset and heartbroken by
Dink’s destructive behavior and understand that something needs to change. They believe that
a new addition to the family is the change that Dink needs to alleviate his loneliness.
2. Rising Action: One day, Dink gains a sister named Frankie and is no longer alone. Dink feels
anxious and confused about the sudden addition to the family. Dink only wanted his owners to
spend more time with him…not someone new! Frankie is younger and constantly bothering
Dink. One day, Dink walks to his favorite spot in Eliot’s room to catch a break from Frankie. He
lies down on Eliot’s amp, which is perfectly positioned next to a sunny window. As Dink
peacefully enjoys the sunlight, Frankie peers her head around the corner into Eliot’s room and
discovers Dink. Frankie wants to join Dink on the amp, so she scampers o towards the amp.
She brashly jumps on Dink, causing Dink to fall o his amp and fall on the oor.
3. Climax: Once Dink realizes what has happened, he is mad and attacks her, initiating a cat ght.
After the ght, Frankie runs o the amp and ees into the living room, feeling sad and dejected.
4. Falling Action: Dink feels terrible after the ght with Frankie, after watching her ee into the
living room. Dink follows Frankie into the living room and nds her hiding underneath the
couch. As an apology, Dink bats his favorite ball toy towards Frankie. She sees the ball suddenly
roll in her direction and looks out from underneath the couch to see who batted the ball in her
direction. Dink feels slightly awkward and looks away after seeing Frankie. Frankie crawls out
from underneath the couch and bats the ball back to Dink. They begin to play and chase the ball
together.
5. Resolution: Dink gradually begins to accept Frankie as a new member of the house and learns
that he has more fun playing with her than with his owners. They enjoy chasing each other up

and down the hallways. Dink even showed Frankie his favorite areas of the furniture to scratch
up and destroy when they’re both bored. Frankie also showed Dink how to open the snack
cabinet doors so they could eat their favorite treats whenever they wanted.
